The report
On 5 November 1975 a forestry crew returning from work in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests, near Heber, Arizona, said they stopped to look at an unusual light. Travis Walton walked towards it and was reportedly struck by a beam and knocked down; the frightened crew drove off, and when they returned about fifteen minutes later he and the light had gone. After a search, Walton telephoned his sister from Heber about five days later and said he had been taken aboard a craft and examined by humanoid beings. The case is widely regarded as disputed: Philip Klass and Michael Shermer argued it was a hoax to avoid a contract penalty, while Walton and the crew have maintained their account. It was later adapted into the 1993 film Fire in the Sky.
